Meeting/Event Information

Format: Interactive with small and large group discussion, brainstorming, video reflection, resources and slide presentation. To foster community building, Respectful Communication Guidelines, Kaleidoscope Institute will be utilized (https://www.kscopeinstitute.org/free-resources).

Outcomes: After participating in this workshop, attendees will:

1. Learn and reflect for application as coaches on definitions of culture and intercultural competence.

2. Engage a framework for understanding culture, for reflection and application as coaches and the coaching relationship.

3. Gain an overview of the IDI as a developmental tool to help coaches increase understanding about our own culture, values, assumptions and behaviors, and the ways in which we engage cultural commonalities and differences in the coaching relationship.

4. Introduction to Ohio State’s 5-key component Cultural Competence Model in coordination with the IDI as a developmental tool as deeper framework for understanding and skill acquisition.
