Artificial Intelligence is rapidly reshaping the landscape of coaching—and with it, the role, relevance, and readiness of coaches. Many practitioners feel both intrigued and uneasy about AI’s growing presence. This session invites coaches to move beyond fear toward informed curiosity, exploring what AI is truly capable of today, where it outperforms and underperforms humans, and how it can become an ally in expanding our impact.

Objectives: 

• • Understand the evolving landscape of AI in coaching, grounded in validated research and global RFP data from leading organizations.

  • Differentiate between “AI Coaching” and “AI-Enabled Coaching,” exploring where each adds value in development journeys.

  • Gain insight into the organizational perspective—what companies are asking for in coaching engagements and how AI is shaping their expectations.

  • Reflect on personal mindset and fear responses to technology—“drinking our own champagne” by examining internal resistance and growth edges.

  • Discover practical ways to leverage AI responsibly and creatively, aligning with ICF and EMCC emerging AI coaching standards.

About our presenter:

Dr. Sheila Boysen-Rotelli, MCC is a Master Certified Coach, researcher, and global leader in coaching quality, methodology, and AI-enabled coaching. She serves as Senior Director of Global Coach Quality & Capability at BTS and as Director of Continuing Education at Lewis University, where she also teaches graduate-level coaching and leadership courses.

Dr. Boysen-Rotelli works at the intersection of coaching science, organizational practice, and emerging technology. Her current research and advisory work focus on how AI is reshaping coaching delivery, coach competency, and organizational expectations—grounded in real-world data from global enterprises, RFPs, and coach sentiment studies. She has advised AI-coaching startups, contributed to international conversations on AI coaching standards, and actively uses AI in her own coaching, mentoring, and assessment work.

Known for her ability to translate complex innovation into practical, ethical, and human-centered application, Sheila brings a balanced, evidence-based perspective that helps coaches move beyond fear toward informed, responsible engagement with AI—without losing the heart of the profession.
